Sedation
Are you a nervous and anxious patient or you know someone who is? Find yourself unable to tolerate any form of dental treatment; we may be able to help. Dental sedation is the use of medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. It is often recommended for people who have a fear of the dentist, a sensitive gag reflex, or a need for a lengthy or complex procedure.
How does it feel?
You will feel drowsy and relaxed but not asleep, and we will be talking to you and you will be responding throughout the procedure. Largely you will be unaware of what dental treatment is going on and afterwards and you may not remember.
How do you do sedation?
The sedative is administered slowly through a small injection at the back of your hand, or in your arm, until you are sufficiently relaxed for dental treatment to be carried out.
